 Preparations
were made at Chillicothe’s Daryl Danner Park where the Missouri Boys state fastpitch softball tournament
was held on October 3 and 4, 2008. Members of the city’s grounds crew enlarged the playing field from 200 feet (the distance used for girls’ standards) to 250 feet which meets the boys’ requirement. The full-size field without use of the portable fences is 275 feet.C-T

employees work on the tennis court area in Simpson Park, putting
together forms in preparation for some concrete work. The concrete slabs now hold the
sixth bench located around Simpson and Danner Parks. Funds for the seven park benches
were donated by
area residents. Those interested in donating funds for a bench may suggest the area the
bench should be located and request a plaque to be mounted on the bench, if the bench is
